Don't Be Scared...

This weekend, we had our third and LAST annual PT Halloween party.  Thanks to Jodie, our wonderful host!  There were lots of great costumes, but I will have to agree with everyone else that Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar take the cake!  I wish I had taken more pictures (as usual), but I know several other bloggers have the pics up.  We are 1/2 way done with our mid-terms....look out, we will be PTs soon :)

Don't look back

Philippians 3:13-14, “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)

Luke 9:62, “Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.’” (NIV)

I was just reading my daily devotional and came across these two verses. Thank you Lord, for putting things into perspective, and for giving us the energy and ability to follow through with the things you have called us to do.

October again?!

I can't believe that it is already October again! While I love the change that crisp autumn air and changing leaves tend to bring, I am always slightly sad to see another summer go. This summer seemed to be especially eventful, so I decided to make a "top 10" list for summer memories before I forget details.

10. Our summer classes...anyone who has gone to Texas Tech has fond memories of our cardiopulmonary classes :)

9. My sister was in Amarillo for the whole summer, and I'm pretty sure that is the last time we will be in the same town for that long. My mom, sister, and I got to do lots of shopping, laying out, cooking out, and hanging out at the new house.

8. Ashleigh's wedding in Durango. From their very entertaining "last dance", to laying awake at 2 a.m. with Lisa when we had been sleep deprived for a week, we had a great time! Durango is a beautiful place to have a wedding.
7. Andrew's sister Sky and her husband Daniel came home for furlow from Zambia. We had not seen them for two years, it is amazing how time flies! We had a good time hearing all of their stories and seeing their pictures. 6. Cruising down Highway 1 with Drew, breathing in some fresh ocean air, and staring at the beautiful, blue Pacific Ocean.
5. I camped out for the FIRST TIME EVER this year. Andrew and I got a "truck tent" that goes on the back of our Avalanche, pushed down the back seat, and tossed out our sleeping bags! We camped in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, and I now believe that camping in National parks is the way to go.....

4. Andrew had microfracture surgery on his knee. I know that doesn't sound like a spectacular memory, but it was a huge part of our summer. And, after about 1 1/2 years of trying to figure out what was wrong with it, I am glad that it is finally fixed! Now for 8 months of rehab before it is healed for good....

3. Climbing all the way down to the Colorado River from the rim of the Grand Canyon, and back out in one day. Yes, my calves were out of commission for about a week, but it was well worth it!

2. My sister's wedding. Everything was absolutely beautiful!! Now my little sis has joined the "wife" club :)
1. Our first day at Pismo Beach. I loved walking out of our hotel room down to the clear blue ocean, and inhaling the moist, salty air directly off the waves. Drew and I didn't want to leave that place.

Darby Brooke Laird

I got to baby-sit for Jamie and Jason a few weeks ago. Darby is such a GOOD baby! She only cried once the whole time I was with her. She was super close to crawling when I watched her, I'm sure she is moving all over the place now! She is going to have minor surgery tomorrow, please pray that everything goes well for her. Just look at that smile, she is gonna be a heart-breaker :)

Happy birthday Caesar!

My little maltese Caesar just turned 3! Well, actually he turned 3 on Aug. 17, but I am just now posting about it. Since we don't have kids yet, we treat Caesar like our little baby. He has become such a little member of the family, and he tends to win over just about anyone. He is also great for entertainment wherever we go :)

Shanda got him yummy dog birthday cookies
As you can see, he loved every bite

We got him a new dog...he has an obsession with fluffy soft toys

One week later........lol

Sean and Shan

Shanda's wedding was absolutely gorgeous. She had it at Country Home Weddings, which I would recommend to anyone! It was hard to choose which pictures to post because all of them were so great, but I picked a few. She looked absolutely beautiful. It rained ALL DAY on Sunday, but it stopped at just the right time and they were able to get married outside! I think God was watching out for them, because it stopped raining until all the guests had left. Just as Andrew and I walked into our apartment around 1 am; a HUGE storm rolled through. We actually laughed because the timing was so perfect. Anyway, Drew and I are so happy for them and excited about all of the great times we will have together. Congrats guys!! Oh, and have a blast in Hawaii ;)

Wedding Festivities

My "little" sister Shanda got married on Sunday, Aug. 17th. We started on Friday night with her bachelorette party. Thanks to all the girls for coming, it was a blast! We played a few games and went to Burberry's for a bit. The next day all the girls went and got our nails done before the rehersal dinner (and I had to take a nap because I was so tired from the night before.)

Christopher and Ashleigh

Here are some pics from my friend Ashleigh and Topher's wedding in Durango, CO. They couldn't have picked a more beautiful area to have it. The wedding was laid back and fun, just like the couple :)

2 Years!

Drew and I have been married for two years today. In some ways, it feels like we just got married, but we are so used to married life now that we can't remember how things were before. In two years: Drew got a new job, I survived the first couple of years of physical therapy school, Drew did a lot of triathlons (I did 1), I did a marathon, Drew had surgery,we took an amazing road trip, we lost a beloved family member, many of our close friends were married, a few of our friends had a child of their own, we laughed together, we cried together, but most of all, we were there for each other through everything. Who knows where the Lord will lead us in another two years, but I am glad I will always have my best friend and biggest supporter by my side. Thanks for two wonderful years Drew, I love you!
