Don't look back

Philippians 3:13-14, “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)

Luke 9:62, “Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.’” (NIV)

I was just reading my daily devotional and came across these two verses. Thank you Lord, for putting things into perspective, and for giving us the energy and ability to follow through with the things you have called us to do.

October again?!

I can't believe that it is already October again! While I love the change that crisp autumn air and changing leaves tend to bring, I am always slightly sad to see another summer go. This summer seemed to be especially eventful, so I decided to make a "top 10" list for summer memories before I forget details.

10. Our summer classes...anyone who has gone to Texas Tech has fond memories of our cardiopulmonary classes :)

9. My sister was in Amarillo for the whole summer, and I'm pretty sure that is the last time we will be in the same town for that long. My mom, sister, and I got to do lots of shopping, laying out, cooking out, and hanging out at the new house.

8. Ashleigh's wedding in Durango. From their very entertaining "last dance", to laying awake at 2 a.m. with Lisa when we had been sleep deprived for a week, we had a great time! Durango is a beautiful place to have a wedding.
7. Andrew's sister Sky and her husband Daniel came home for furlow from Zambia. We had not seen them for two years, it is amazing how time flies! We had a good time hearing all of their stories and seeing their pictures. 6. Cruising down Highway 1 with Drew, breathing in some fresh ocean air, and staring at the beautiful, blue Pacific Ocean.
5. I camped out for the FIRST TIME EVER this year. Andrew and I got a "truck tent" that goes on the back of our Avalanche, pushed down the back seat, and tossed out our sleeping bags! We camped in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, and I now believe that camping in National parks is the way to go.....

4. Andrew had microfracture surgery on his knee. I know that doesn't sound like a spectacular memory, but it was a huge part of our summer. And, after about 1 1/2 years of trying to figure out what was wrong with it, I am glad that it is finally fixed! Now for 8 months of rehab before it is healed for good....

3. Climbing all the way down to the Colorado River from the rim of the Grand Canyon, and back out in one day. Yes, my calves were out of commission for about a week, but it was well worth it!

2. My sister's wedding. Everything was absolutely beautiful!! Now my little sis has joined the "wife" club :)
1. Our first day at Pismo Beach. I loved walking out of our hotel room down to the clear blue ocean, and inhaling the moist, salty air directly off the waves. Drew and I didn't want to leave that place.
