Pumpkin Pickin

Yes, this is late, but I had to post pictures of my favorite pumpkin picking out his pumpkin! I got off work early one afternoon and recruited my mom to come with us. Thank goodness she did because he is all over the place!

It was not a surprise that most of the pictures are of his little backside running away from me:) He's "a mess" as papa would say. Rush loves it when my dad tells him he's a mess, he starts smiling, shaking his head back and forth and yelling "MESS MESS MESS MESS"! He also does it when he is in trouble to make me laugh, but that is a story for another post.......

Never Grow Up

You're little hands wrapped around my finger
And, it's so quiet in the world tonight
You're little eyelids flutter cause you're dreaming
So, I tuck you in
Turn on your favorite night light
To you, everything's funny
You got nothing to regret
I'd give all I had, honey
If you could stay like that
Oh, darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh, darling don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up
It can stay this simple
I won't let nobody hurt you, won't let no one break your heart
And no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up, and never grow up
I'm really liking the new Taylor Swift album, anyone else?

Finger Painting

We decided to let Rush draw us his first picture with finger paint (washable of course!) He is so much fun. GC hooked us up with some butcher paper and we used the Crayola washable finger paint. He loved squishing his hands in the paint and smearing it on us instead of the paper.

XIT Parade

For those of you who are not from the panhandle, the XIT ranch rodeo is a big deal in Dalhart, TX. My mom grew up in Dalhart and we still have lots of family there, so we decided to head north and take Rush to his first parade! It was a good time. He caught lots of candy, ate smarties with Papa, and ate his first popsicle! After the parade, we headed to my Grandma and Grandad's and ate delicious burgers and homemade ice cream. Rush LOVES takes nothing more than a single cube to cheer him up from even the worst of moods. So you can imagine his excitement to have a popsicle and homemade ice cream in the same day:) Thanks for having us Dalhart crew, hope to see you again soon.

Rush Bear

Just wanted to write a post of what my bleach blonde baby has been up to lately so I don't forget. He is wearing 12-18 month clothing. He LOVES playing in the water, especially in his new water table. He is not walking yet, but he has been running with his push toys for the past week! He is starting to repeat words and will say a few: hi, bye, mama, dada, BITE, papa, GC, car. He has become quite the little ham and will laugh, clap, and wave on demand. I love that his personality is already starting to come out. He is sweet, independent, and playful. He loves to give and get hugs and kisses even if the kisses sometimes come from Caesar.....(I'm trying to get over my OCD about that, I'm pretty sure they have shared more than a few cheerios this week) We are so proud of him and continue to be amazed that God would bless our family with him.

The Big ONE!

This big boy turned one July 30th (yes I am posting almost a month late!) We had a great time celebrating, thanks to everyone who made his day special.

Rush was in a great mood for his party! He laughed and played with family....

He opened presents

And ate cake!!
My sis and Sean came all the way from Houston to be here on Rush's birthday which was so special! We also had *almost our whole family come from Dalhart, it was a great time!

10 month old big boy!

My big boy turned 10 months old on May 30th! He is starting to look more like a toddler than a little baby which is fun and sad at the same time. It has been a big month....he finally started crawling instead of rolling around the house.....then proceeded to go from lying down to sitting on his own, pulling up on everything, and standing a few seconds on his own the next day! Words so far: Dada, Mama, Blue (boo), and Papa. He has very distinct preferences on likes/dislikes (hmm...must be a daddy's boy:) so I thought I would jot a few down.

Hanging out with the guys; kisses for the girls (and then he smiles and waits for you to clap and tell him how sweet he is); puffs (any flavor); Baby Einstein movies; cell phones; computers; remotes(gadget guy); feeding himself; books (especially Crocs! and any touch and feel); going outside to play; being naked; and baths!
Sippy cups (any advice appreciated!); peaches; clothes; being still; going to sleep. If he has to do anything he doesn't want to he will give you the furrowed brow and scowel (funny, but have to keep myself from laughing)
It is amazing how much more I learn about him each month. Babies are a blast!
This is the face he has been giving to make us laugh........and it works every time.
Time for swimming!

The weather has been warming up around here and we are loving playing outside. Rush is actually getting a little tan! We took him to the park for the first time and he wasn't so sure about everything!

Drew raced in a 7K and won by several minutes! We were so proud of him!
Our first blooms of spring were the Asiatic Lilies, which are so beautiful and bright! This is what happens when I try to take pictures of Rush just before nap time.

First baby

Tonight our first baby Caesar tried to run away. The garage door was open because Drew was working outside....the wind blew our house door open and Caesar decided to take a stroll alone outside. I thought he was out with Drew and Drew thought he was in with me so we aren't sure how long he was gone. Once we noticed, I grabbed Rush and started driving around the neighborhood and Drew took off on foot. We finally found out one of our sweet neighbors had seen him wandering around and saved him until she found his owners. She had already posted an ad on craigslist.....thank goodness for kind people!! When Drew went to get him he was running around in the back yard with a golden retriever having the best time. She thought he was a little puppy, but he is 4 years old!! We love our Caes so much, I am so glad we have him back at home where he belongs.

Houston weekend

Over Easter weekend, Rush and I got to make a trip to Houston to see Shanda and Sean. It was the first time I have been able to go see their apartment. Drew had to catch up on some work so he was unable to come with us. We had a great time living the city life for a few days!
Rush got one Easter basket from mom and dad......

One Easter basket from Shanda and Sean....and one from GiCi and Papa! Talk about cleaning up....of course his favorite part was the grass.

We went to the park next to Shanda and Sean's apartment for an afternoon stroll.
We ate lots of good food that we can't get here in Amarillo and played with Aunt Shanda.

We went to the Houston zoo since the weather was gorgeous! This huge monkey pried himself off the ground and slowly maneuvered down to the bottom of his climbing area.....then he put his hand out as if to say "tada!" and I caught a picture as he asked for applause (or food?)

Kisses for Aunt Shanda

This was the first time Rush has flown anywhere and I was nervous...but he did GREAT! I was actually amazed at how well all the babies on our flight did. The worst thing about it was hauling all of the baby gear along with us!
We had a fun trip Sean and Shan, we should do it more often.

9 month catch up

I am not even sure if anyone reads our blog anymore, I have been slacking on the updates. I have been reading everyone else's blogs but neglecting our own. Life has been non-stop for the past three months. We have worked on our house (inside and out), I will post pictures soon of our progress. It has been fun working together on all of our projects, but it has been hard work at times too. Rush has also been sick for the past few months. About 2 months ago he was diagnosed with RSV. We did breathing treatments for about a month, and when it still didn't go away, they put him on steroids and an antibiotic. That finally kicked it and he is a much happier baby boy! He is smiling more, sleeping more, eating more, and playing more. Today we went for Rush's 9 month check up; he weighs 19.6lbs and is 29 1/2 inches long. He is doing great developmentally!

Get your guns up!

We headed to Lubbock to watch Tech play Texas a couple of weeks ago, and Rush got to see his very first basketball game! He was all smiles until they shut off the lights and the SUPER loud announcer got on the microphone and started to introduce the players. Rush's poor baby eyes got as huge as saucers and he gave me the pouty face (I will post a picture someday) and BROKE DOWN! I quickly took him out into the hall for a few minutes, he calmed down, then we went back into the game. We lasted umm....about 3 minutes until Tech scored, the announcer came back on, and the crowd burst into cheer. Same reaction from Rush, so he hung out in the hall with GC and Papa for most of the game. You can tell from the pictures that he still had a BLAST! The game was good, we had so much fun! Thanks for taking us Mom and Dad, I can't wait until Rush is old enough that I can tell him this story:)

Hanging with GC makes everything better

It was sooo loud Papa, and they all screamed!

Try again next year!

Sitting Pretty

This month has been full of "flying"....

and sitting up tall. Rush is enjoying seeing the world from a different view these days!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
