Day Out with Thomas

Rush has loved trains for over 2 years now. He has a train table with all of the Thomas characters and watches the show at least once per week. Playing out scenarios on the train table is his all time favorite activity. We were so excited to be able to take him to take a ride on the real Thomas train!  They had several train and block tables to play at during the event.

The boys got Thomas tattoos.

They had train and track stamps to play with.
Rush didn't want to stop and take this picture, there was too much to do.
We got to see Sir Topham Hat, the controller of the railways.  He had to make sure nobody was causing "confusion and delay".
Cruz ran up and gave him a hug, but wouldn't stand in a picture with us.
About to board Thomas!

He got his ticket punched.

Cruz was pointing and naming things out the window.
They had a little putt-putt area set up.  Cruz tries to do EVERYTHING Rush does.  Even though he was totally dangerous swinging a regular size club (as pictured), we let him follow his brother and "golf".
Rush got a Diesel 10 tattoo.
When we were trying to leave and Cruz slowly squatted down, folded his arms, and said "No, play trains."  It was so cute, I had to snap a picture.  I love that he doesn't throw the usual 2 year old tantrum. He is calm and gets his point across.

First Over-night Family Vacation

Last weekend, we went to Austin for our first family vacation.  Our first stop was Zilker Park.

They have an old firetruck as part of the playground.
They also have a huge music station
The boys took an impromptu dip in the creek.

We went to eat at the Boathouse Grill.

Cruz was excited about the family slumber party in the hotel.

Slumber party

One Sat. night, GC and Papa invited Rush over for a slumber party.  He was over-the-moon excited about getting to be with GC and Papa by himself.  He was jumping all around the house and packing his suitcase as soon as he knew what he was getting to do.  Here is a picture of Rush and GC riding the train at the mall. To say he had fun was an understatement. He told them "this is more fun than sitting inside of a lollipop!"

Fun all the time

It is so fun to see Rush's abstract drawings become something recognizable!  He has had an imaginary pet dragon/friend/hero who solves everything named Rago since we moved to Houston.  Not a day goes by that he doesn't mention Rago at least once.  He is always flying beside our car on trips.  He lives in a skyscraper in downtown Houston.  He busts through the the door almost every day for dinner.  If he comes by and we aren't home, he calls Rush on the phone to see what we are doing and when we will be back.  He first came into existence when Rush and Cruz flew down to Houston last Dec. with my parents.  So, imagine our excitement when Rush finally drew Rago for us one night.  He's breathing fire out of his mouth.  Rush told me he didn't have enough paper to draw all of him. I'm saving this forever.

On some very hot or rainy days, I take the boys to the mall playground.  It is not crowded during the week and all of the kids are little.  They also have this light projector/game that the boys play with.
We met GC and Papa at Chick fil A one day for lunch before they left to go back to Amarillo.  The boys were treated to ice cream!
Cruz had a new "cheese" face.
GC found Rush a Spider Man costume at Target.  He has worn it several times per week since he has gotten it.
We continue with preschool at home. It is kind of difficulty to work on handwriting when your little brother tackles you all the time.  I love that Cruz wants to play with Rush like this.  Rough and tumble boys!  But, seriously, I feel like Rush is doing well with our little "lessons". Technology is the best, there are so many great resources out there for the iPad and computer.
This is the face you get from Cruz when he doesn't approve of what's going on, or if he doesn't get something he wants.  Crying is not usually associated, just a look of disapproval:)
